Beijing, People's Republic of China
Shortly after having been intoduced to the chinese market, Alphabet pasta noodles, Kraft Foods™ is forced to withdraw the famous pastas from the supermarkets. Indeed, in order to harmonize their product to this emerging market's culture, they shaped the noodles according to the chinese alphabet.
Since this alphabet contains approximately 3000 characters instead of 26, production had to resize their boxes from 2 to 200 liters, and ask for a retail price of 1,500 Yuan (300 CAN$). Another disadvantage was that very few boxes could be put in grocery stores aisles.
Formal complaints were also made to the company from parents who broke their lower back, trying to lift the 50 kg (110 lb) pasta boxes.
Kraft refused to be interviewed by La Rpesse. According to our sources, there is no plan as of yet to introduce Alphabits cereals to the chinese market.
